Our database

TP Bharat maintains its own database of Indian company financial statements, organised for Transfer Pricing work. Company data is sourced from filings with the Ministry of Corporate Affairs and public databases about companies, and every search and analysis on TP Bharat runs on it.

–companies
–financial years
–industry groups
–product and service groups
–last updated

Two versions of the data

TP Bharat Detailed has full line-item statements. It gives the cleanest operating margins and is the one we use for most searches.

TP Bharat Abridged has summary statements for a wider set of companies, including many smaller ones. Where we have detailed accounts for a year, we use those; otherwise the summary statement is used, and the year is marked so you know which it was.

You choose the version when you set up a search, and the analysis records which one was used.

Data notes

Anything we noticed about the figures, such as a year shorter than twelve months or totals that do not add up.

How the figures are organised

Companies describe the same item in different ways. We map every line of every statement to a standard set of headings, so that operating revenue, operating cost and the other figures mean the same thing for every company in a search.

Where a statement gives both a total and its parts, only one of them is counted. Exceptional items, prior-period items and other non-operating income and expenses are kept apart from the operating figures.

We keep the figures exactly as reported and do not adjust them to make them fit. If something looks wrong, for example a balance sheet that does not balance, or accounts for a period shorter than twelve months, we mark it. In a search you can choose to leave those companies out.

Where the data comes from

Company data on TP Bharat is sourced from filings with the Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA), including audited financial statements filed by companies, and from public databases about companies. Industry, product and NIC classifications come with each company’s record.

Free search results do not show company names. Names, business descriptions and full statements are provided with an Arm’s Length Analysis or a subscription.

Updates

Companies are added as their annual reports for the year come in. The most recent year fills up over the months after the March year-end, so the search shows how many companies each year has.

Try a search on your own case

It is free and you do not need an account. Company names stay hidden until you order the analysis.
